Around Pt. Conception, the Cape Horn of California!
Sail Date: January 25, 2014. Total hours at sea: 13.5
Left Morro Bay at 4pm arrived Santa Barbara 5:30pm January 26, 2014
The weather window was closing for conditions around Pt. Conception, a sometimes-tricky area, so we decided head out. Left the harbor with 6ft. swell Easy Peasy! We were told that gray whales are heading south at the 50 fathom line so we were keeping a close eye on the horizon. Yeah, that’s right, I just used the word FATHOM.
Sunny Southern Cali here we come! Then, just after twilight it started to rain. HA! Who knew? Not the Weather Man that’s for sure! So DB braved the weather as I slept. He did have a pod of Dolphins to keep him company for a while. I finally decided to stop hitting snooze and joined DB in the cockpit just in time for the most amazing sunrise as we rounded Pt. Conception.
