Welcome Aboard the Avalon Express
Left Oxnard just before sunset with 4 to 6 ft. seas with a pod of around 80 to 100 dolphins surrounded us, jumping into the waves. Sailed all but 1 hour of the 15 hour trip! We had 15 to 25 knot winds building all night. With 2 reefs in the main we were still making 6.5 sometimes 7 knots (this is fast for Stormy). We were rockin’!
Seas were 4 to 6ft. mixed swell with 2 to 3ft. with wind waves on top of that. It was our first real test of our foul weather gear and how Stormy handles in harsher weather conditions. DB stayed up all night and let HJ get lots of rest. For the record, HJ did pour landing rum and make sausage and eggs for breakfast.
The anchor has dropped in Avalon Bay. Now its time for some sleep.
